Ping pong is firmly back in the cultural spotlight

TABLE TENNIS HAS BECOME A REAL LIFESTYLE FEATURE.

With Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming Marty Supreme film, a fictionalised retelling of the story of the volatile American ping-pong prodigy Marty Reisman — ping pong is firmly back in the cultural spotlight.

“Those serious about ping-pong are getting increasingly serious about their tables too — the functional green styles of the past just won’t do for those looking to smash their interiors game,” said Nicky Rampley-Clarke, The Sunday Times.

So designers are racing to create tables made of marble, glass, and rare woods — many of which double as dining or desk setups.

And according to Jamie Stanford, resident table tennis expert at the UK retailer Liberty Games, they are called “lifestyle tables”.

He explains:

“Customers are starting to look beyond the usual buying considerations to seek a higher level of design that complements their homes. These models break free from regulation sizes and standards, but benefit from dual functionality.”

But while others are figuring out how to hide their tables in plain sight, we’ve been doing something bolder: Ping pong tables designed to hang on your wall.

Our ArtTables are playable, wall-mountable artworks — crafted in small editions, featuring artwork by Caroline and me, as well as in collaboration with some of our favourite artists.

When they’re not in use, they’re bold, colourful design pieces.

When they’re down, they’re the most fun you can have on four legs.

As The Times notes:

“Table tennis has become a real lifestyle feature — playful, social and seamlessly integrated into how people design their living spaces.”

Exactly. We just got there early.
