WHY YOU'LL LOVE THE SLING-BAG

Table tennis bags have almost always been about function over form — practical, yes, but rarely something you’d want to carry every day.

At AoPP we expect more: bags that move seamlessly between the ping pong table, the city, and everything in between.

Made from recycled materials in the Raeburn Lab, our Sling Bag combines durability with design detail.

It’s a limited-run piece that carries the same spirit as our tables and paddles: playful, purposeful, and designed to stand out.

Play anywhere. Carry with style.

WHERE ART BECOMES PLAY

personalisation and style

personalisation and style

Designed to hold two AoPP x RÆBURN Ping Pong bats securely, this bag features a transparent front pocket that showcases your bat’s bespoke print, instantly changing the look depending on which side faces outwards — adding a touch of personalisation and style. A discreet rear pocket provides extra storage for valuables, while a separate triple-spot silk-screened parachute pouch is perfect for balls or small essentials on the move.

Each bag is meticulously RÆMADE from deconstructed source artefacts at the RÆBURN Lab in East London, making every piece entirely unique. With only 15 in existence, it’s a one-of-a-kind fusion of art, design, and functional play.

FORM AND FUNCTION

FORM AND FUNCTION

“At AoPP, we’re obsessed with form and function, so we’ve long harboured the idea of making a ping pong bat bag that we would be proud to wear rather than stow away in a rucksack. The same ethos sparked our original idea to design a wall-mountable ping pong table. A cross-body bag also acts as a physical reminder to anyone to get out there and play! So when we met Christopher at one of his infamous RÆBURN ping pong nights, we could not think of anyone we would rather co-create this vision with.”

— Algy Batten, AoPP co-founder

Craft, Creativity and Community

Craft, Creativity and Community

“Craft, Creativity and Community have long been part of RÆBURN’s reason for being, and this project with Art of Ping Pong perfectly embodies those principles. We’ve talked for years about doing a project together, and seeing our cross-body bag and unique bat come to life gives me a lot of pride. Next, we’re looking forward to getting out there for a bit of healthy competition!”

— Christopher Raeburn, Founder & Creative Director of RÆBURN

MEET CHRISTOPHER RAEBURN

Designing the Sling Bag together gave us the pleasure of getting to know Chris really well. So we asked him a few questions about our collaboration.

AoPP: RÆBURN is known for its deep commitment to responsible design. What initially drew you to sustainability in fashion, and how has that purpose evolved over time?

Chris: It started with a sense of responsibility, really. Early on, I was struck by the environmental impact of our industry, and I couldn’t ignore it. I began by reworking surplus military gear—giving old materials new life—and that ethos has guided me ever since. Over time, it has grown into a broader commitment: not just to reusing materials, but to designing systems, products, and collaborations that truly value both people and the planet.

AoPP: What are the toughest decisions you’ve had to make to stay true to your sustainability values? Are there compromises you refuse to make?

Chris: One of the hardest things is saying no to opportunities that don’t align with our values—even when they’re commercially tempting. But compromising on material integrity or ethical standards is something I just won’t do. We’ve learned to get creative with constraints, and honestly, some of our best work has come from working within those limits.

AoPP: AoPP creates beautiful objects that connect people through art + play. How important is it to you that functional objects are as beautiful to look at as they are to engage with?

Chris: Hugely important. I think beauty and utility should go hand in hand—why settle for one when you can have both? When you create something that works and brings joy just by being seen or touched, that’s when design becomes truly meaningful. Art and play aren’t extras—they’re essential to how we connect with the world around us.

FAQs

The bats look cool – but can you actually play ping pong with them?

Absolutely! Being a ping pong fanatic, our founder would never have created a bat that compromised the game itself.

All the materials used are of the highest quality, and the carefully screen-printed rubber allows for great playability. Resulting in a great balance of art and table tennis excellence.

Can you tell me more about what you can fit in the bag?

This bag is designed to securely hold two AOPP x RÆBURN Ping Pong bats. When carrying just one bat, the additional pocket is perfect for storing a lightweight
jacket or other essentials.

A discreet pocket on the reverse of the bag provides extra storage for valuables or small items.

It also ncludes a detachable ping pong ball bag, which can also be used for other small stowage needs. Constructed from hand silk-screen printed parachute material.

I’m trying to be more eco-conscious – could you let me know more about the materials used for the bag?

Crafted from iconic Royal Air Force Issue Anti G Full Coverage Pilot Jet Flight Trousers and silkscreen printed parachute fabric, this bag embodies the essence of RÆBURN’s commitment to responsible design. Each bag is meticulously RÆMADE from deconstructed source artefacts at the RÆBURN Lab, East London, and each is wholly unique – no two bags are alike.
