WHY YOU'LL LOVE OUR BATS
Once, ping pong bats were red and black paddles that rarely left the games cupboard.
Today’s players are looking for something with more personality: objects that reflect their taste and stand proudly in their homes.
We’ve reimagined the bat as a miniature canvas — a playable artwork that’s as fun to rally with as it is to display.
Whether hung on the wall or swung across the table, an ArtBat is both a design statement and a call to play.
Play with personality. Collect with purpose.

MEET JAMEL
We caught up with Jamel at his solo exhibition, Silk Song, to talk about rhythm, ancestry, and how his art found its way into the world of play.
AoPP: Can you tell us a bit about your journey as an artist and how you first discovered your unique style?
Jamel: My journey began almost instinctively, as a way to make sense of feelings I couldn’t always put into words. Over time, painting and sculpture evolved into a means of channelling a sense of memory, ancestry, and ritual. My style emerged through experimenting with texture, layering, and figures that feel both ancient and timeless. It’s a language that came naturally once I trusted the process.
AoPP: What did Art of Ping Pong bring out in your practice that might not have surfaced in a solo project?
Jamel: Working with Art of Ping Pong pushed me to think about interaction in a different way. A painting is observed, but a paddle or table is touched, moved, and played with. It made me consider durability, rhythm, and joy as essential parts of the design.
AoPP: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the artwork for this collection?
Jamel: At first, my design was more focused on serving the idea of the ping pong table itself, but Art of Ping Pong encouraged me to stay closer to my own language as an artist. That shift opened the door to bring in elements from my ongoing work. The table will be launched during my exhibition at Gallery Hioco Delany, where one of the central stories is about the wolf. This figure symbolises my son and the idea of protection and kinship. I wanted the design to convey some of that spirit — a sense of guardianship, energy, and play — while still aligning with the game's rhythm.
FAQs
They look so cool – can you actually play ping pong with them?
Absolutely! Being a ping pong fanatic, our founder would never have created a bat that compromised the game itself.
All the materials used are of the highest quality, and the carefully screen-printed rubber allows for great playability. Resulting in a great balance of art and table tennis excellence.
I want to send one as a gift – how is it packaged?
We love that people gift our products and have made sure our packaging means you can send it directly to the lucky receiver and not even need to wrap it yourself. We often get emails from customers letting us know how joyful their order is to open.
Each ArtBat or ArtBat set comes in an Art of Ping Pong branded linen bag wrapped in AoPP branded presentation tissue paper.
Being a small team means we are also able to add handwritten notes, so if you would like us to do that for you, please get in touch at marley@theartofpingpong.co.uk
I’m trying to be more eco-conscious – could you let me know more about the materials used?
We use responsibly sourced, sustainable wood and air-dried natural rubber to create a harmonious blend of performance and eco-consciousness. The wood used is FSC-certified and all materials have passed the ISO 9001 environmental tests.
Even our branded linen bags are something we are proud of. Our supplier is based in India and is an award-winning factory that is Fairtrade accredited, has an 80%+ women workforce, and uses sustainable manufacturing methods to reduce waste in water, energy, and materials.
