TWO TIMES ELLIOTT
The Dysfunctional Object
As designers ourselves, this partnership with Two Times Elliott was extra special because, like us, their philosophy is based on a belief in the power of collaboration and transformative design. We both believe the journey to exceptional work is a shared one filled with discovery and mutual growth.
Their energy and enthusiasm for seeing this project as more than just an opportunity to create a beautiful design extended this partnership to create a curiously conceptual film alongside the ArtTable itself.
The vision
At the heart of Two Times Elliott’s practice is a belief in transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary.
Inspired by architect Charles Jencks’s visionary landscapes, this project was guided by his works and approaches.
They drew inspiration from the Garden of Cosmic Speculation and Northumberlandia, where Jencks explored the concepts of postmodernism, symbolism and illusion, blending functionality with play.
The film
In the undulating landscape of Northumberlandia, two players engage in an otherworldly ping pong match.
This 60-second surrealist journey, set against Charles Jencks's masterpiece, blurs the lines between time, reality and illusion.
As the ball arcs through the air, it carries the weight of postmodern thought, challenging viewers to reconsider their perceptions of art and existence. The design for this ArtTable became a conduit for exploring the symbolism and surrealism inherent in Jencks's philosophy and works.
